Our Story
Smooth FM is Lower Northland's locally owned radio station, broadcasting from Wellsford to Whangarei.
Founded by David Gray, who calls Waipu home, Smooth was born from his vision to fill a gap in local radio. David recognized the need for a station that could connect local businesses with residents and visitors in this rapidly growing region, offering music that appeals to everyone. This is especially important as Lower Northland sees a surge of over 25,000 visitors during the summer months.
With Dave's over 27 years of radio experience in various roles (including co- founder of George FM, and various announcer and management positions) Smooth FM has the knowledge, experience and track record to get the best value from your investment.
We are unashamedly dedicated to Lower Northland... because we live here too.
